Clint's training for last week: My 2x6 miles went well. I averaged 5:01 per mile for the first one and 4:59 for the second. I ran an 8-mile tempo run on Sunday in Rochester Hills, averaging 5:05. I have my last 20-miler Wednesday. To read his weekly tip click here.

Our office has combined forces with a Yoga Studio located in downtown Lake Orion. Hamsa Yoga has designed a yoga class specifically for runners. This class is perfect for runners. The class targets running specific problem areas and helps runners become more flexible. This can help runners stay more healthy and perform better over time.The class is every Wednesday night from 7:15 - 8:30pm.

We have set the date for our RunGuru.com Third Annual Event. It will be on Thursday July 10th, 6pm, at Holly High School. This year we will still have the 5k heats, however, the Gender Battle will be a 2 mile. Keep checking the webpage for details.

Clint Verran balances running elite marathons and his PT clinicThere are 26.2 long miles to run in a marathon and Clint Verran, MPT, has persevered through that daunting distance about 20 times. But more impressive than the number of marathons he’s completed is the world-class ability he’s shown in doing it. In fact, the 32-year-old Verran just returned from the Olympic Trials marathon in New York City at the beginning of November, where he placed 18th in the entire country with a blistering time of 2:17:10, equating to 5:14 per mile. Even that time was not his personal best, which came in the 2006 Boston Marathon, where Verran placed 10th in 2:14:12. He also represented his country at the 2005 World Outdoor Championships marathon in Helsinki , Finland , placing 22nd in a field of international elite with a time of 2:17.42.Verran’s running career is so decorated that not competing in an Olympics may be the only significant feat he hasn’t yet accomplished. But even that he barely missed out on, qualifying as an alternate for the 2004 U.S. Olympic team with a fifth-place finish at those trials in 2:14:37. More...
